Ignorance

Such a sad and ignorant display of racism by a fundamentalist christian. I'm glad to see that the leaders and students at the school are equally outraged but this shows that all religions, not just Islam, are susceptible to radical elements like Al-Qaeda and highlights the need to keep church and state separate in America like our forefathers wanted.

Good news about politics and the environment!!!

A Great Lakes Message from Lt. Governor John Cherry

On Thursday, the reauthorization of the Great Lakes Legacy Act was passed in the U.S. House of Representatives. This Act has been the cornerstone of our work to preserve and protect the Great Lakes and it has already proven effective in those efforts. I applaud the U.S. House of Representatives and their commitment to expand and continue this vital program. Now we have to keep pushing to make sure the United States Senate passes the legislation as well.
During the next month I will be participating in public meetings conducted by the Office of the Great Lakes. We are seeking your input on the draft framework that will serve as Michigan's action agenda for Great Lakes restoration.
Also, the Great Lakes Town Hall has asked me to be a guest blogger this week. Starting today, I'll be writing about the upcoming hearings and the Commission's work thus far. Later in the week, I'll explore the main issue areas covered in the Commission Draft Action Plan, and the need for continued collaboration at the local, regional, and national levels.
I hope you will all join the conversation at the Great Lakes Town Hall!

Thank you,
Cherry Signature

VP debate format change

"The Obama and McCain campaigns have agreed to an unusual free-flowing format for the three televised presidential debates, which begin on Friday, but the McCain camp fought for and won a much more structured approach for the questioning at the vice-presidential debate, advisers to both campaigns said Saturday." - NY Times

Why is the McCain campaign protecting Palin if she is ready to lead or country? If she becomes President will they disband congress because she can't handle the position? No media events when she declares war on Iran? When she takes reproductive freedom away from ALL women?

American Auto Workers Unite!

The UAW president blasted McCain and praised Obama on the subject of supporting American auto companies. It turns out McCain said he only buys cars made in America but it turns out that is a totally false statement:

McCain and Gramm: Two people obsessed with the free market

Think McCain gives 2 cents about the common man or those not part of the elite? Read up on the facts before you make your decision.

A break from politics.

Over the summer I went on a Field School with the University of Illinois at Chicago near De Kalb, IL. We spent 4 weeks in the field and 4 weeks in the lab analyzing our finds. The site was a Clovis temporary camp site near the confluence of the east and north branches of the Kishwaukee River in De Kalb county, Illinois.

Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure:

The Truth about Milton Friedman

The recent stock market plunge is another warning sign that the "Unlce Milty" free-market capitalist should go back to economics school at the University of Chicago to redo some of those theoretical frameworks that look so tantalizing on paper but flop in the real world.

Another sign that we need people like Obama/Biden in the White House making sure that we better regulate this economic system of ours that is out of control and out of touch with America. I bet McCain has a foot in his mouth now about the US economy being fundamentally sound.

Lastly I wish we could let these companies that run on high octane fuel at the top, yet bare bones were it counts to fall from the tops of the Sears Tower and Empire State buildings and not waste more taxpayers money to bail the multimillionaire execs out of sure ritual suicide.

ALAS they do need government interference!

McCain confused on Obama tax plan?

In a previous post I provided a non-partisan website that allows you to find out how much less in taxes you would pay under Obama. I suggest everyone go there and check it out.

Here is an article about why McCain thinks Obama is wrong on taxes:

Biden Revealed

Here is the link to a documentary put together by CNN about the Democratic VP nominee. If you have any questions about this man's abilities to help change America you need to watch:

Immigration

I think that immigration reform is one of the biggest issues that we have to deal with in this new global world. If you agree you will read this article:

The true deception in current politics

At the Republican National Convention in 2004, as grown men and women waived flip-flops in their hands, a symbol of John Kerry's supposed political record, I wondered is this really the America that our forefathers invisioned. Today it seems as though the tables have turned on the Republican party, perhaps Karma at work:

Taxes

For anyone who is afraid to vote for Obama because they will have to pay more taxes under his plan should check out this website:

Knowing the truth about how the candidates plans will ACTUALLY work is 95% of the battle.

Books

So not as to offend anyone by my opinions, I have decided only to post on articles that I will be reading over the next few weeks as we approach the election. I will post from both "liberal" media sites, as well as sites that are considered "conservative" just to be fair.

Here is the first one from fox news:
